Why does my shower or balcony leak?

 

Although showers, shower baths or balconies may leak due to a number of reasons, the most common cause of seal leakage is building movement, i.e. as a building settles into it’s foundations or moves naturally with hot and cold weather. This movement can result in weakening or cracking of grout, seal, tile and floor/wall junctions within the shower, bath or balcony. This eventually allows water to penetrate beneath the surface of the tiles.

Waterproof Membrane Fails are another cause for seal leakage. Beneath the surface of the tiles there is usually some kind of waterproofing membrane designed to prevent water penetrating the surrounding areas. Unfortunately these sealing membranes are also susceptible to building movement, poor installation and chemical breakdown with age. Once this membrane has been breached, water is free to penetrate into the surrounding areas and cause damage.

What will happen if I don’t fix my leaking shower?
The water leak is not necessarily isolated to your bathroom. Leaving a leak unrepaired can not only cause mould, mildew and pest problems which can affect the health of you and your family, but can also cause underlying damage that may not be clearly visible at first and may well lead to expensive repair works in the future.
What is the cost to repair a leaking shower or balcony?
The size and scope of repair work for every shower or balcony is different. Sealed WA will provide you with an obligation free quotation at a time suitable to you.
Is there a warranty provided?
Yes. Sealed WA provides a 25 year written product warranty. Please also refer to the Terms and Conditions of your warranty.
How much mess and disruption will there be?
To protect your property our technician will use drop sheets and vacuum any mess before leaving. Disruption is minimal and your shower can be used the next day.
Can I choose the grout colour?
Yes, you may choose from a selection of colours. Our technician will be able to show you the colour selection sample.
How can I pay?

Sealed WA accept payments via EFT, Cheque, Money Order, Cash, Mastercard or Visa. We have Eftpos facilities available. Please confirm the method of payment when making your booking.
